Day 8 – Dr Visit

Big day today! Aiden’s first Dr visit. This is just the initial check up to make sure he’s doing fine.  It’s also his first outing since he left the hospital.  Just like the car ride home from the hospital, he looked uneasy but it wasn’t long before he fell asleep.

(Look at how much Daddy loves me, he added toys to my car seat even before I could enjoy them)

Time to wake him up, and strip him down to his diapers.  Nurse needs to get his weight and length.  Uh oh.. time to change his diaper first.

6lb4oz (He was 6lb1.5oz when discharged from hospital) and 19.75″ in length.  3 different people took his height but all 3 had different measurements.  His doctor noted that it’s difficult to get an accurate measurement until he is older.

We can only cover him up with a blanket at the moment as we’re waiting for the Dr to come in.

His favorite wink wink expression again.

I was quite surprised he’s not fussy at all after we woke him up.  He was extremely cooperative and very energetic.  Normally he sleeps regardless of what we do to wake him up!

That stethoscope is cold!!

Dr also checked his spine.  All good.  Doctor even noted that he had beautiful skin.

After all these tests, this little guy feels a little annoyed and upset.

He doesn’t like his car seat at all.

After Aiden’s Dr visit, we went to the Old Vine Cafe @ Costa Mesa for a quick brunch.

Wheat toast with pistachio nut butter.

English muffin with apple butter.

Reuben Omelet

Ham & Cheese Omelet

Caramel Apple French Toast

Eat Chow

This is just another bad day.  Since Amy has two parties to go this afternoon/evening, our original plan was to have a nice brunch and then head to Samy’s to do some Christmas shopping (no tax till 12/17).  But after I made like over 10 phone calls and still couldn’t find what I wanted, my mood gone down hill…   :(

Well, wifey find this cafe from yelp, located “inside” a baby stores?? You will see…

Han Yang Revisit

What a day, wifey and I had to work OT today. We both got a little lazy after getting home and felt like dining out today. Hence we decided to revisit Han Yang to try a couple of new dishes.

Su-Yuk (Beef Sampler Plate) – Beef brisket, flank steak, tendon, leek, garlic and date.  For $17, you got all these beef sitting on a sizzling hot stone plate. We both like this a lot, the meat was tender and it goes so well with the garlic and their wasabi soy sauce. Lucky wifey is not a big fan of garlic, I get to finish them all by myself.

Sul-Long-Tang (牛雜湯) – This is what we missed out last time. For only $6.99, you get full bowl of sliced brisket, intestine, drop flank. Add a pinch of salt in the soup and it bring out all the flavor in the soup.  This is by far one of my top favorite dish here.

I’m so looking forward to take my parents here when they visit Aiden. :-)

It looks almost the same as what we had The Capital Grille last week.

Cooking – The Capital Home Grille

What do we have here?  Lobster craving after The Capital Grille.   At $10.99/lb we couldn’t say no to this 2.71 pound lobster from Maine.

Leaving his temporary home (the crowded tank) at about noon today….

Blurry picture because the lobster was still very alive and tried to fight against Galen picking it up.

Then transferred to his temporary home….

our fridge, with my other favorite food (pomegranate).

The Capital Grille

The Capital Grille was recommended by a few friends, so since the restaurant we were planning to go to had a long wait, we came here instead!  But it was better than what I expected!

The Capital Grille is a fine dining chain restaurant from the East Coast.  But here…. their dress code is not too strict.

Galen got in wearing a T-shirt :)

Huge Menu – a table of 4 could barely fit on this table.  Mr. Chan kept dropping his menu!

Bread – Galen really enjoyed the bread on the right.  I, of course, stayed away from starches.
